Temilade Olanrewaju

Temilade Salami is an Environmentalist, author, and Marine Biologist with over four years of experience leading various youth-led environmental sustainability initiatives across Nigeria. She is the Executive Director of “EcoChampions”, one of Nigeria’s largest networks of professional environmentalists, leading environmental change through climate education and advocacy, tree planting, and plastic waste management in Nigeria.

Her contributions to environmental policies and practice have been deservingly recognized; having been named as a 2020 Nigeria’s 25 Under 25 Leader on Energy and Sustainability, 2018 LASEPA Ambassador against Pollution, 2018 Ideation Hub Africa Talent of the Future, and a 2018 US Consulate’s Carrington Youth Fellow. She is also a Chevening scholar currently studying in the UK at the University of Sussex, for a masters in Environment, Development, and policy. She serves as the Deputy Chair of the University of Sussex student sustainability committee and a member of the SDG4 YOUTH Network.

She has also written two illustrated environmental books for kids and is currently pushing for Climate Education in Nigeria’s education system. She wears her creative hat on some days through poetry in creating artistic awareness of the need for environmental sustainability and justice.
